After 4 years of inactivity I finally dragged myself out to do Habitat. It was a really nice day and I'm glad I finally got out there. My company is building a house. We spent the whole day putting up a moisture barrier in the upper floor. Hopefully I'll be able to go out there next time IT gets a group together.

Hey everyone! I'm newbie to the community, and I just felt like sayin' "hi" and see if maybe we can liven up this community a bit with spring break trips on the horizon.

Lemme introduce myself. My name is Kim, and I'm a sophomore at Villanova University (in the suburbs of Philly). Villanova has a pretty prominant service break trip program and is sending students on 13 different trips this spring (4 mission, 9 Habitat). I'm leading/organizing the trip to Marion, SC. Has anyone been there before? I'm definately excited about that, especially after talking to Lowell, our site contact, this afternoon. I've also been to Sumter, SC in March '05 and Slidell, LA in October '05.

So, what does everyone think about this? I was surprised when I started getting fundraising letters signed by Paul Leonard instead of Millard. I was shocked when I found out why.

Just thought I'd represent my chapter and post our progress. The Texas Tech Habitat Chapter has been around for approaching 10 years. Ive been around for only 2, but its still been great. Last year we did a Collegiate Challenge in Valencia County, New Mexico. Heres pictures from this year's Blitz Build and soon pictures on a playground for the neighborhood that we paid raised funds for and are building this upcoming weekend ($15,000!). If y'all want any information about it, Id be glad to help.

The sand volleyball tournament that I spent all summer planning went off pretty darn smoothly!!! We had 28 teams and netted just over $2,000!!!! Apparently we got screwed over on food though, so we'll probably only have like $12-1400 profit, but still the most successful tournament we've had to date!!!!!!
Just thought I'd share that with y'all ;-)
